Sudbury Women’s Centre gala raises more than $21,000
The Sudbury Women’s Centre says its 2026 International Women’s Day gala was a tremendous success, selling out faster than ever and uniting the community in celebration of empowerment and togetherness.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the gala – which took place on March 7 at the Caruso Club – raised more than $21,000. All proceeds will directly support Sudbury Women’s Centre programs and services.
These funds help ensure continued access to essential supports for clients, including educational workshops, hygiene products, counselling services, as well as assistance with basic needs, the centre said. The success of the gala reflects the strong commitment within the community to uplifting women and gender-diverse individuals in need of support.
“Our International Women’s Day gala continues to grow each year, and the incredible level of support from our community is truly inspiring. This event has become a key fundraiser for SWC and a meaningful opportunity for empowerment, connection and celebration,” Carolyn Dawson, development officer and event organizer, said in a release.
“Seeing everyone come together in such a powerful way reminds us that we are not alone in this work. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helps make this evening, and our ongoing programs, possible.”
The release said response to the gala highlights the power of community collaboration and shared purpose. While the gala represents a meaningful moment of celebration, the need for ongoing support continues throughout the year, the centre also said.
