Sisters Offering Support (SOS)
A weekly drop-in and socialize program, hosted Wednesday nights from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Sudbury Women’s Centre. Women and their children enjoy recreational and social activities in a safe, fun and welcoming environment.
Self Compassion Workshops
Every Thursday from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., join other women for informative sessions to learn about self-kindness, connectedness, mindfulness and how to be more compassionate to oneself and others.
Violence Prevention Workshops
A 2-part workshop that helps women identify and understand the complex cycle and patterns of violence including physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse. Women learn to identify the risk factors and assess danger signs in a relationship.
Safety Plan Workshops
A one-on-one personal safety plan is created to help a woman before and after an assault. Women learn how to prepare to leave, how to be safe within the home, creating a code with her children and friends, when to call for help and community resources.
A New Beginning
This teaches women how to re-enter the workforce, important pre-employment preparation, how to write a resume and cover letter, and preparing for a successful interview.
Every Monday, women are invited to participate in small sewing projects to encourage development and strengthening of both skills and relationships. Attendees enhance their creativity and sewing skills with support from a volunteer instructor and access to a large assortment of materials.
Women get together to cook in bulk for their families. These cooking groups pool their money, skills, and energy to cook healthy and economical meals they take home to share with their families. Groups of 4-5 women work together with a facilitator and meet twice a week for 5 weeks.
My Sister's Closet
Women can pick up gently used clothing, footwear and accessories for themselves and their children. All items in the closet are $1/item or free for our clients. Items include; work & casual clothes, dress & casual shoes and purses, infant & children’s’ clothing, boots and shoes.
