The Between Us Ladies Dinner Soirée, organized by Imperfection Lives Here, raised $1,405 for the Sudbury Women’s Centre November 2 as they brought together nearly 150 women for what they called a “memorable evening of connection, mentorship, and empowerment.”

Hosted at the Caruso Club, the evening featured a  keynote speech by Dr. Crystal Kavanagh, thoracic surgeon, who shared her journey and insights on resilience and leadership.

Following this, the event offered a panel discussion titled “Crossroads of Courage: Charting Personal Pathways to Empowerment.”

The panel brought together a number of speakers: Suchita Bali, Manager of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism at Health Sciences North; Hailey Short, Senior Communications Advisor to MP Viviane Lapointe; Randi Ray, Founder and CEO of Aazhoganike Family of Companies; Theresa Nyabeze, Mining Engineer and Board Director of the Afro Heritage Association of Sudbury; and Ashley Larose, CEO of Science North.

The panel was moderated by Sherri K, program director and co-host of the Morning Hot Tub 93.5, who also emceed the event.

The mission of the event is to foster connections among women from diverse backgrounds and experiences while creating valuable mentorship opportunities states the release. This year’s gathering connected 17 mentors with young women, aiming to strengthen professional and personal networks in support of the next generation.

Imperfection Lives Here co-founders Gina Gegeoju and Michelle Gwekwerere highlighted the impact of the Between Us Ladies Dinner Soirée on the Sudbury community.

“The Between Us Ladies Dinner Soirée is far more than a night out; it embodies a movement centred on empowering and supporting women,” they said in the release. “This event is about creating a space where women can connect, inspire, and uplift one another in a setting that celebrates diversity and encourages personal and collective growth.”

The co-founders thanked their volunteers, especially the students from Marymount Academy “who generously contributed their time to make this event a success.”
