The Sudbury Women's Centre, now officially known as SWC, says its new plan is a ‘commitment to fostering a community that supports all women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals’

The Sudbury Women’s Centre, now officially known as SWC, is announcing the launch of its 2025-2028 Strategic Plan.

A press release from SWC states the plan “signals an exciting evolution for the organization, solidifying its commitment to fostering a community (that) supports all women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals, ensuring that ‘Every Individual Matters’.”

The release states that the plan is anchored by four fundamental values: compassion, inclusivity, empowerment and well-being, which will guide every initiative and interaction over the next three years.

The new strategic direction builds on decades of service, “refining SWC’s core mission to fostering growth and success through a community approach that provides access to basic needs, resources, services and education.”

“This Strategic Plan represents a pivotal moment for SWC and for the community we serve. It reflects our deep understanding of the evolving needs of women, girls and gender-diverse individuals in Sudbury,” said Ginette Comeau-Roy, SWC executive director.

“We are not just a place to start; we are a place where every individual can find comprehensive support, resources and a path to success. Our commitment to inclusivity is at the heart of this renewed vision.”

According to the release, the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan is structured around three key priorities, designed to expand capacity, strengthen organizational health and ensure sustainable impact:

1. Community Engagement & Growth: SWC aims to significantly expand its capacity to  meet the growing needs of the community. Strategies include building a more effective  media and marketing approach to further increase visibility, deepening community collaborations, and increasing and optimizing targeted networking efforts.

2. Organizational Vitality: This priority focuses on strengthening a healthy organizational culture, fostering an environment where employees and volunteers are well-supported  and developed. SWC will also continue to pursue its leadership in a community hub model for services, analyzing space and access requirements for future planning.

3. Sustainable Funding and Resource Diversification: To ensure long-term stability, SWC  is committed to strengthening sustainability by diversifying its revenue sources. Key

strategies involve developing and leveraging strong relationships with potential funders,  securing consistent funding for operations and personnel, and exploring the  development of a social enterprise model.

“As the chair, I am incredibly excited about the opportunities this strategic plan unlocks,” said  Melissa Pitfield, chair of the SWC board of directors. “It provides a clear framework for  fostering growth, enhancing our community approach, and ultimately empowering more individuals to achieve success. We are building a truly supportive and inclusive community, and this plan is our commitment to that future.”
