About SWC

The Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC) is a community-based nonprofit organization that supports women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals who have experienced violence or other challenging life situations. We offer programs and services that promote safety, healing, connection, and empowerment through trauma-informed support, resource navigation, group programming, and community partnerships.

This position will support the planning and delivery of a one-year job readiness program in partnership with Spark Employment Services, aimed at building skills and employment readiness for participants with past intimate partner violence or gender-based violence experience. Key Responsibilities

    • Provide overall leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, cash flow management, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting. 
    • Lead the development, monitoring, and management of annual organizational and program budgets, ensuring effective stewardship of financial resources. 
    • Oversee cash flow and banking activities, including the management of multiple bank accounts and financial resources. 
    • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records and transactions. 
    • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analysis for the CEO, Board of Directors, funders, and other stakeholders. 
    • Provide financial insights, forecasts, and recommendations to support strategic planning and organizational decision-making. 
    • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. 
    • Ensure compliance with applicable financial, payroll, regulatory, funding, and reporting requirements. 
    • Work closely with the senior management team on strategic initiatives, organizational planning, policy development, and the monitoring of program performance and key measures. 
      • Support the preparation of funding budgets, financial reports, and other financial information required by funders and external stakeholders. 
      • Coordinate and support year-end financial activities, including audit preparation and liaison with external auditors. 
      • Oversee selected administrative functions, including employee benefits administration, leave tracking, and other operational processes. 
      • Support recruitment and human resources activities as required, including participating in recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes. 
      • Oversee relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, including IT, facilities, equipment, and other administrative services. 
      • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, technology, and operational efficiency. 
      • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field required. 
    • 3+ years’ experience in a financial management position. 
    • Proven strategic planning experience at management level. 
    • Proven experience overseeing full-cycle accounting and payroll function. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including SharePoint. 
    • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Apps & Power Automate) is considered an asset. 
    • Experience with SAGE is an asset. 
    • Proficiency in both official languages is an asset.
