EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – PERMANENT FULL TIME 

Sudbury ON 

 

Projected Start:  As soon as possible 

Term: Permanent Full-time (32 hours per week)  

Compensation: $45.65 hourly ( $75,961.60– annually) 

The Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals in our community through a variety of support services, advocacy, and educational programs. We have a long history of making a significant impact in the lives of those we serve and are looking for a dynamic and passionate Executive Director to lead our organization into the future. 

 

Job Description:  

The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Sudbury Women’s Centre. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include supervision of staff and volunteers, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

Strategic & Operational Leadership 

  • Lead the development and implementation of organizational vision, mission and strategic goals. 
  • Oversee the creation and enforcement of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with employment standards, health and safety regulations, and privacy laws. 

Board Relations & Governance 

  • Provide governance oversight and collaborate with the Board of Directors to maintain high standards of ethical governance and policy development. 
  • Act as a key liaison to the Board, fostering strong relationships and facilitating effective communication. 

Financial Management 

  • Direct financial planning, budget development, and financial reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability. 
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting. 
  • Manage and oversee financial operations, ensuring transparency and accountability. 
  • Experience in fundraising, including grant writing, donor relations, and developing fundraising strategies. 

Community Engagement & Advocacy 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and community members through effective public speaking, networking, and marketing efforts. 
  • Lead advocacy initiatives and manage public relations, including proposal writing and media relations, to promote the organization’s mission and secure funding. 

Program Oversight & Quality Assurance 

  • Guide the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of programs to ensure quality, impact, and alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Conduct regular program assessments and quality assurance activities to measure and enhance program effectiveness. 

Staff Leadership & Development 

  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes to build a strong and diverse team. 
  • Foster a positive work environment through professional development, performance management, team building, and staff recognition initiatives. 

Risk Management & Compliance 

  • Identify and manage organizational risks, including crisis management, insurance, and contingency planning. 
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards, maintaining a culture of accountability and integrity. 

Vision & Innovation 

  • Drive strategic innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance organizational performance and impact. 
  • Embrace and implement new technologies to streamline operations and support organizational growth. 

 

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Business Administration, or relevant field. 
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience leading a non-profit organization and/or senior management experience  
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in financial oversight preferably in the nonprofit/charitable sector 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong skills and experience as a peer support worker or relevant position 
  • Experience & knowledge of marketing, fundraising and community outreach 
  • Ability to write effective proposals and communication pieces for qualified prospects and existing donors 
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to lead & execute a strategic plan 
  • Proficient in MS Office 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization. 
  • Ability to be flexible, versatile, and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency 
  • Ability to successfully undergo applicable screening and background checks (Criminal Background check with vulnerable sector screening)
