Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Development Officer that will be instrumental in the planning, development, execution and advancement of the Sudbury Women’s Centre’s strategic plan. This person will establish strategic partnerships internally and externally to develop strong relationships that inspire giving and donor retention.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Participating in all aspects of the fundraising cycle – research, prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and leadership;
- Collaborating with Executive Director on various existing partnerships and foster new partnerships;
- Following feasibility and business plan goals to grow the centre following our strategic plan;
- Developing relationships within new and existing community partners to inspire giving and meet revenue targets;
- Working with Executive Director creating and editing grant proposals, and letters of interest to foundations, and various funders;
- Managing marketing and communication team to help generate campaigns for improved visibility and revenue generation;
- Participating in strategy meetings to promote a team approach to fundraising;
- Performing other duties and initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
- University or College graduate with a concentration in Public Administration, Fundraising, Non-profit Management, Business, Marketing or a related field of study
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset but not required
- Minimum 2-5 years previous fundraising experience undertaking a variety of programs including solicitation of grants, direct mail, major gifts and corporate campaigns
- Strong understanding of fundraising management, bringing professionals to donor cultivation;
- Proficient in analytics and conducting own research, prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; someone who is able to ask the right questions, gather and analyze the right data
- Excellent organization, planning and time management skills combined with strong attention to detail and the ability to establish an internal system for meeting deadlines, tracking, follow-up, monitoring, and reporting progress
- Excellent oral and written skills with a demonstrated ability to write effectively and persuasively and present to diverse groups
- Ability to negotiate the closure of major gifts, including the creation of gift agreements and other supporting documentation
- Extremely effective interpersonal skills with a professional presence and manner, and capable of exercising independent judgment, initiative and flexibility
- A high level of comfort working with a wide range of stakeholders, including academic leaders, donors and volunteers
- Excellent public relations and networking skills.
- Ability to effectively articulate the mission, strategic vision and values of the organization to a wide range of internal & external constituents
