About SWC

The Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC) is a community-based nonprofit organization that supports women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals who have experienced violence or other challenging life situations. We offer a range of programs and services that promote safety, healing, connection, and empowerment. Through trauma-informed support, resource navigation, group programming, and community partnerships, we help participants build resilience and reach their goals.

This position will support the Breaking Down Barriers project, including the delivery of training to male-dominated workplaces to promote inclusivity and safer environments for women, as well as supporting regular program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one client support (intake, resource navigation, follow-up)
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate workshops and group programs
  • Plan and coordinate small events and program activities
  • Build and maintain community and organizational partnerships
  • Research new collaboration opportunities
  • Act as liaison with external partners
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Collaborate with team members for consistent service delivery
  • Participate in outreach and community events
  • Attend community meetings as required

Qualifications

  • Experience in social service support work or similar role
  • Compassionate, patient, and friendly approach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organization
  • Detail-oriented and efficient
  • Diploma in Social Service Work or related field (required)
  • Mental Health First Aid (asset)

Additional Information

  • Reports to the Program Manager
  • 32 hours/week:
  • Monday: 8:30am–4:30pm
  • Tuesday: 8:30am–8:30pm
  • Wednesday: 8:30am–4:30pm
  • Thursday: 8:30am–4:30pm
  • 1-hour unpaid lunches
  • Occasional local travel (expenses reimbursed)
  • Occasional travel across Northern Ontario
  • Workshop facilitation is a core responsibility

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s licence (required)
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle to support program delivery at off-site locations
  • Willingness to travel locally (up to 25%)
  • Willingness to travel across Northern Ontario (up to 25%)
  • Work location: In person (Greater Sudbury, ON P3E 1G1)
