Sudbury Women’s Centre receives federal funding

The Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC) has received $19,475 through the Community Services Recovery Fund, funded by the government of Canada in partnership with Community Foundations of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross and United Way Centraide Canada.

The fund is a one-time $400-million investment from the federal government to support community service organizations as they adapt and modernize.

The money allowed SWC to significantly upgrade its servers and client relationship management system. Now more than ever, community service organizations play a key role in addressing complex social problems faced by many communities across Canada.

SWC has experienced this directly, as the organization has seen a significant spike in demand and an increase in clients following the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the system required updates to handle the volume of client information.

“The funding provided by the government of Canada has been vital for us at SWC. It has allowed us to strengthen our support services, enhance our capacity as an organization and address the challenges posed by the pandemic,” Giulia Carpenter, executive director of the SWC, said in a release.
