Fundraising event takes place on March 11 at the Caruso Club

The Sudbury Women’s Centre will celebrate International Women’s Day with its Strength in Sisterhood gala, which takes place on March 11 at the Caruso Club, 385 Haig St.

The event features a night of local entertainment, a dinner beginning at 6 p.m. and a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Sudbury Women’s Centre as it continues to serve the city’s most vulnerable.

“When our community comes together, our clients flourish,” Giulia Carpenter, executive director of the SWC, said in a release. “The Strength in Sisterhood gala is a way for us to not only celebrate International Women’s Day in person again, but it is also a way for our community to celebrate the continued efforts of our centre to empower, educate and elevate our clients.

“We could not be more excited for this next event — we have missed coming together to celebrate women. It is sure to be an unforgettable evening.”

Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets go on sale Jan. 9 and can be purchased through Eventbrite at tinyurl.com/4zpzsnbs. The community is welcome to follow the Sudbury Women’s Centre on Facebook and Instagram for further event updates in the coming weeks.

The Sudbury Women’s Centre also thanked thanks its community supporters and sponsors for their continued contributions. It is through these fundraising efforts that the centre can continue supporting its clients with free access to basic needs, resources, services and education, officials said.

The Sudbury Women’s Centre is currently seeking donations for its silent auction. Anyone interested in making a donation or becoming involved in a different capacity is asked to contact Rae-Anne Neville, the centre’s development officer, at 705-673-1916 ext. 104 or .
