Sudbury Sunrisers overcome pandemic to raise $33,500

The Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers have announced the results of its annual fundraiser, Vive le Vin, which was held in November 2020, and was held with a new twist.
Instead of our Gala event being held at the Caruso Club with wine and cheese pairings and dancing the night away, we provided a home experience, all in a box.
With the support of the community, and led by our chair, Julie DeSimone, and co-chair Barb Roy, and the Club, we were able to sell 425 boxes and netted $33,500.
“The challenge of COVID was overcome by the generosity of our community and the commitment of Rotarians who live the Rotary motto ‘Service Above Self’,’” said Luann Belfry, president of the Sunrisers Club.
This has allowed us to provide important support to the following groups: Cambrian College Foundation (Equipment Renewal Fund), Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury (Community Outreach Program), YMCA ( My Y is Resilient Campaign), Inner City Home (Emergency Food Bank), Sudbury Charities Foundation (Send-A-Kid to Camp Program) and the Sudbury Welcomes Immigrants.
Also receiving support is the Rotary Park, Desimone Foot & Ankle Centre (Sock & Shoe Drive), NEO Kids Foundation (Fetal Pillows), Sudbury Action Centre for Youth, Sudbury Women’s Centre, Finlandia SISU Foundation, and the Maison McCulloch Hospice.
