Chantal Makela

Board Chair

Chantal is an inspirational leader whose passion lies in the non-profit sector. Through her volunteer work and over 16 years of experience in leadership roles, she continuously strives to create a community where people can innovate, create and feel safe.

Currently, Chantal is the Chief Executive Officer of Spark Employment Services, where she leads a team dedicated to supporting the community with their employment needs.

As a Board Member for the Sudbury Women Centre, it is Chantal’s hope to utilize her strengths and knowledge of quality improvement, project management and LEAN training to support the Center be all it can be for women in our community.

Laura Goulet

Board Secretary

Laura Goulet was born in Sudbury, where she now lives and works.  She holds degrees in Law & Justice, Criminology and Law. She practiced criminal law for over 20 years as defence counsel, as well as a municipal prosecutor, assistant Crown Attorney and as a Federal prosecutor.  Laura was appointed as a full time member of the Licence Appeal Tribunal and a part time member of the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal in December of 2021.  Previously, she was a part time adjudicator for the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.

Laura feels honoured and privileged to be a part of such a wonderful Centre that offers so many programs and such great support to women in the community.

Natalie Parent

Natalie Parent

Board Treasurer

Natalie Parent is an experienced Human Resources Manager. She has a B.A. (Major in Law & Justice and Minor in Labour Studies- HR stream) from Laurentian University and is working toward her CHRL designation. Natalie is skilled in alignment HR initiatives with business objectives and needs, leading recruitment, retention, policy development, labour relations and has an Executive Certificate in Conflict Management.  

Natalie also serves on the Board of Directors for the Sudbury and Area Victim Services, Présidente du Conseil d’école catholique (CEC) – École Notre-Dame Hanmer and, served on an Advisory Board to the Coalition to End Violence Against Women (2016-2020). 

Natalie is passionate about advocating for women’s rights, self-worth, and self-sufficiency. Her goal is to stop the cycle of abuse and violence by empowering women through their journey of discovery.

Melanie Landry

I am a Registered Nurse and mother to 2 teen girls. I am lover of the outdoors and all the beauty that Mother Earth has to offer.   I am very passionate about mental health and addictions and strive to advocate for harm reduction initiatives in our community.

Brittnee Gauthier

Brittnee Gauthier is a highly motivated individual who’s passions centre around helping those in need. She graduated from Laurentian University double majoring in Law & Justice and Indigenous Studies. After completing her four year bachelor degree, Brittnee gained employment as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer with The City of Greater Sudbury.  She currently works full-time in this position and throughly enjoys the opportunity to serve the public.

In her personal life, Brittnee finds pleasure in houseplants, nature, books and animals. She has two dogs, four cats, and over 100 houseplants. Brittnee feels honoured to be a board member for the centre and seeks to make positive changes in the lives of Sudbury women.
